2 Ingredient Dough ~ just Greek yogurt and flour ~ No yeast and incredibly easy-to-make dough in minutes for delicious fresh baked dinner rolls, bagels, breadsticks, pizza, naan and more anytime!
Oprah knows about this 2 Ingredient Dough. Others in the Weight Watchers loop know about this bread. So how is it I’m just now trying it? I love bread in the way Oprah professes to love it. What took me so long? Because I didn’t believe 2 simple ingredients and just a few minutes could create bread this delicious.
Even since my I’ve been making this 2 Ingredient Dough it’s been on repeat: bagels, warm buttery dinner rolls, naan bread – even pizza! It whips up in 5 minutes without proofing the dough and there’s no end to what you can make with it – even pretzels!
What do I like about 2 Ingredient Dough?
- It’s easiest dough I’ve ever made with the best, tastiest results.
- No proofing needed!
- It’s as delicious as yeast-type dough.
- You can bake it in the oven or the air fryer!
What’s in 2 Ingredient Dough?
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Self-rising flour
No self-rising flour? no problem:
If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can still make this dough, but you will need a couple of other ingredients.
Make your own self-rising flour using one cup of all purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
It’s important to use Greek yogurt – not just plain yogurt because they aren’t thick enough and won’t produce the same results.
how to make 2 ingredient dough:
In a medium size bowl, blend the flour and plain Greek yogurt together using a wooden spoon. NOTE: if you’re making your own self-rising flour, blend the AP flour, baking powder and salt together before adding the yogurt.
Once the dough is combined and while it’s still in a rough form, transfer it to a flat surface dusted with flour and dust your palms with flour as well. Your dough should be slightly tacky but not so sticky it’s leaving dough on your hands. Depending on the moisture content of your yogurt you may need more flour. If necessary, sprinkle on another tablespoon or so at a time (all-purpose flour can be used).
Knead the dough several times until the surface is smooth and you can form a ball then section the dough into 6 approximately equal pieces. This will let you to make mini bagels and just-right-size naan flatbread.
What to make with 2 ingredient dough:
My favorite recipes with this dough – so far! – are naan flatbread and bagels sprinkled with Everything Bagel Seasoning and a smear of cream cheese. The naan is warm, soft and buttery and can easily be eaten all by itself or with grilled chicken.
The bagels are lightly toasted outside, soft inside and after a quick egg wash, can be seasoned with your favorite toppings.
Bagels:
I am nothing short of obsessed with these bagels! You can cook them in either the air fryer or oven. If fresh baked bagels are your jam (the cool kids still say that right?) you definitely need to give these a try.
You’ll also need 1 egg beaten plus a tablespoon of water for the egg wash and whatever toppings you like on your bagel: Everything Bagel Seasoning, salt, Asiago cheese, Parmesan cheese or just plain – and don’t get a Sunrise Mimosa!
How to form the bagel:
For mini bagels, divide the dough into 6 pieces then roll each piece into a ball. Next roll the ball into a rope and join the ends to form a circle.
Oven method:
Preheat the oven to 375° then line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Brush the bagels with egg wash and top as you like, then bake 12-15 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
Air Fryer method:
Preheat the air fryer to 325°. Brush the bagels with egg wash and toppings then bake 8-10 minutes or until golden. There’s no need to flip the bagel over turning cooking.
Naan flatbread:
You will also need a skillet and 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
Section the dough into 6 equal pieces then working one piece at a time, thinly roll out the dough then brush with melted butter (or garlic butter!)
Starting on one end, roll the circle into a log. Next coil the log then re-roll, flattening into a circle or oval shaped flatbread about 1/4″ thick. This will give you buttery goodness throughout the bread.
Brush butter onto the top of the naan flatbread then transfer to the skillet butter side down. Brush butter onto the opposite side, cook over medium-low heat 4-5 minutes per side or until golden then eat right away. The naan bread is delicious alone, with some hummus or the Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs I mentioned above.
dinner rolls:
Butter a cast iron skillet or baking dish then section the dough into 6 approximately equal pieces. Roll each piece into dinner roll shapes then ‘score’ the top of each roll by making a 1/4″ slit into the top. This gives the rolls a decorative look and helps from cracking during baking.
Bake in a preheated 350° oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
2 Ingredient Dough tips:
- Use Greek yogurt (any fat level) not plain yogurt. Greek yogurt is thicker and better for this recipe.
- Have a flat, well-floured work surface ready before starting.
- Add a sprinkle of flour to your palms before kneading.
- Sprinkle on a little more flour until the dough no longer sticks to your fingers or rolling pin.
How to store unbaked dough:
To store any unused dough, tightly wrap each piece of dough individually in plastic wrap then store in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
When you’re ready to use the dough, let it come to room temp then give it a light sprinkle of flour.
Enjoy!

Can you use 1 for 1 GF flour?
Hi Chris – that’s a great question. Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer. I have reached out to friends who create GF recipes and are familiar with GF flour and I am waiting to hear back. In the meantime I am going to test it myself and will update when I have accurate info. Thanks for reaching out!
Yes, it sure can! I’ve used Better Batter, GF Jules and Measure for Measure.
Hi – thanks so much for the follow up — and the great information – much appreciated! Enjoy the day – Bernie
This recipe came in just in time, my daughter bought me an air fryer for Mother’s Day and I didn’t have any recipes for it. Gonna try the bagels, they sound delish😍
Yes! I have a few other AF recipes on the blog. There are a lot on Pinterest too. I love mine. Fresh baked bagels are sooo good. Added bonus: you load up on Everything Seasoning (loaded with garlic!) in the privacy of your own home lol.
this 2 ingredient bread looks awesome! Wow – very cool.
Thanks Bette! It is so good and so easy too! I love how many different breads you can make with it – and you can’t beat a fresh bagel in the morning with coffee!
